Michelle Memering decorates a statue of Red Skelton as 'Freddy the Freeloader' in the showroom of Memering Motorplex, 1949 Hart St., Tuesday. This statue and several others will be placed at businesses around the community in time for the inaugural Red Skelton Festival on June 10-11. The June 10 formal Gala and Opening at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center will star the Smother Brothers and Red Skelton impersonator, Tom Mullica. The $150 ticket price includes a donation to build a museum to display and take care of the nearly $3 million collection of Red Skelton memorabilia donated to Vincennes University by Red's widow, Lothian Skelton. More information about Red Skelton, the gala, festival and how to purchase tickets can be found at the performing arts center Web site at vinu.edu/redskelton. (Staff photo by Kevin J. Kilmer)
